Most of the time when we think of “God” the first thing we think of is NOT giving Him pleasure.  But this morning I was reading from the book of Psalms.  In chapter 147:11 it said, “The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy.”

When I think of what a rascal David was, an adulterer, a murderer, and that God could forgive David, then certainly God can also be merciful to me!  When I think of how Samson was hanging out with a prostitute and that God could still use him to be a blessing, then there is still a chance God can use me for His glory.  When I think of how terrible Joseph’s brothers were in selling him to be a slave and how God could use that experience, as bad as it was, to bless the very ones who sold him, I can’t help but see that God is very merciful.

Today I want to give Him pleasure!  I want to “hope in His mercy.”  I want to believe that God has a kindness for me, that He has a kindness for others that He wants to pour through me into the lives of those who don’t deserve that kindness and yet need it so badly.  I choose to park my mind on the FACT that He is mercy!

I invite you to park your mind on His mercy as well.  I invite you to give God some pleasure.  And why not encourage His heart by letting Him know that all His love, His sacrifice, has not been for naught; that His patience has not been waisted.
