Pre-COVID-19 Announcements

These are the regularly-posted announcements that were on our website previous to the Corona Virus situation.  At this point in time, most of them do not apply, but we’re keeping them here, so once this is over, we can put them back on the page!

Soup Kitchen Needs Help
The Soup Kitchen is now feeding between 150 – 200 people each Tuesday.  Volunteers are needed to help with food prep, serving, and cleaning up afterwards, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Please contact Rebecca Schmidt if you can help.

Dorcas/Adventist Community Services
As winter is now here, many in our community are needing extra help — especially to keep warm!  Dorcas has currently run out of blankets and towels and heaters. There’s also a large demand for shoes, in particular men’s shoes size 10+.  If you have anything you can donate, please stop by the Dorcas office.  Thank you!

2020 Bible and SOP Reading Program Outline
Each year we seek to deepen our walk with God using the Bible and one of the Conflict Series books by Ellen White.  Next year’s reading program outline combines the Bible and  Patriarchs and Prophets.  If you have a hard time understanding the Bible, this is a great way to enhance your study.  Outlines are available in the foyer.  Please note that the outline follows a Patriarchs and Prophets book or app that starts Ch 1 on page 33. Please contact Donna Griffith for more information.

Prayer for Our Children
Each week, after the main church service has ended, we get together to pray for our children, whether they are in the church or not.  Please feel free to join us in bringing our petitions to God. He is faithful and loves our children more than we do!  We meet in the room behind the organ.

Seeking Student Sponsorship
If you can help sponsor a Grants Pass church member’s child who is attending  RVAA, please contact the church office at 541-476-6313.  There is also another student who is attending Walla Walla who would appreciate some sponsorship as well.  Please call the church office for that information.

Haskell’s  Bible Handbook.  The Prayer Ministry is encouraging people to use this resource for either personal Bible Study or to start a small group. If you are in grades 5 – 10, we invite you to come and join the Grants Pass Pathfinder Club where our focus is to learn many life skills and make lifelong memories in an environment that is Christ-like, safe, and enjoyable.  Weekly meetings are at the Grants Pass SDA School each Monday beginning at 5:30 PM.

Visitation Committee

Communications Ministry
Did you know that our church has a Communications Ministry? Our mission is to uplift Jesus and share information about the church. However, to send the word out, we need you to remind us of upcoming events that need attention.  We will work with you to get the information out to our local newspaper, radio, website, and television stations.  The earlier we know about these, the faster and broader the information can be shared with the world!

Mid-Week Prayer Meeting
Due to the increasing intensity of events in our world, we’ve decided to use the book Last Day Events as our new study guide.  We will continue our sharing time along with the study time.  We would love to see you on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in the Youth Chapel.

IMPACT Meetings!
Do you wish for a closer walk with God? Do you find yourself longing for a deeper experience with the Lord? Do you find the testimonies of others to be inspiring and uplifting? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, come join us for the IMPACT meetings! We meet the second and fourth Fridays of each month at 6:30 PM in the Youth Chapel. You will indeed find yourself impacted by the Holy Spirit.

Many in the community of Grants Pass are blessed with food and clothing that is distributed from our center. As winter is now here, the number of people in need increases, as does our need for helpers/workers in the Dorcas, Thrift Store, and Soup Kitchen.  Any amount of time you can volunteer, in any position, would be greatly appreciated.  Please call 541-660-9088 for more information. Thank you!  Currently, we are in desperate need of towels, blankets, and shoes, especially men’s size 10+.

Quilts for Kids Ministry
Do you have the desire to be the hands of Jesus?  A homemade blanket or quilt will share the love of Jesus in a tangible way, bringing comfort and security. Help is needed in many ways. For more information please contact Rebekah Hill at 509-310-3171.

Private Prayer on Sabbath
If you come to church on Sabbath with burdens and a heavy heart and would like someone to pray with you, look for a person wearing a “May I Pray for You?” button. They will be happy to take you aside and lift your burdens to our Lord.

A Focus on Stewardship
God enables us to give when we have nothing to give. What an awesome God! Counsels on Stewardship, pg 120 puts it this way, “Some are willing to give according to what they have… They have no income that they can spare from the necessities of their families. But there are many of this class who might ask themselves the question, ‘Am I giving according to what I might have had?’”

The Email Prayer Chain
It may be activated by calling the following numbers in the order given until you reach someone:
1. Church Office 541-476-6313 or   (during office hours: Monday – Thursday 9 AM – 3 PM)
2. Donna Griffith 541- 597-2055 or  (after hours and weekends for EMERGENCY prayer requests)

We welcome prayer requests as we believe in the power of prayer, and we have many prayer warriors in our congregation!  The policy for the Prayer Chain is to send out prayer requests that only come directly from the person involved, or from another individual who has their permission. Also, please contact Donna Griffith personally only if it’s an emergency and can’t wait until the church office is open. You are welcome to leave a message on the church phone and we’ll get it the next business day.  Thank you!
